Harriet Mitchell-Vaughn, MS is very grateful for the opportunity to join DSACT as the
Executive Director. She brings more than 30 years of leadership experience across healthcare,
nonprofit, and community-based organizations, with a focus on building strong teams and
creating systems that support both people and purpose.
Prior to moving to Central Texas, Harriet spent over three decades in Southeast Texas, where she
directed multiple programs and worked closely with community partners to expand access,
increase capacity, and better serve individuals, families, and the broader community.
Throughout her career, Harriet has supported boards and organizational leadership during periods
of transition and growth—aligning teams around clear priorities and guiding organizations
forward with stability and focus. She is especially passionate about mentoring others and
creating environments where people feel supported and able to do their best work.
At DSACT, Harriet is committed to listening, learning, and building strong relationships within
the community while supporting continued growth and opportunity for individuals with Down
syndrome and their families.
In her spare time, Harriet enjoys spending time with her husband, David, and values the role
their shared faith plays in their lives.
