Development & Partnerships Manager

Position type: Full-time position. Hybrid role – primarily virtual with in-person meetings and events. Occasional evening and weekend work for fundraising and member events
Salary: $60,000 – $70,000, based on experience

Position Summary: 

DSACT is an Austin-based organization dedicated to improving the lives of people with Down syndrome. We offer programs, resources, and support for individuals with Down syndrome and their families; and training for educators, medical professionals, and community groups. We also support medical research and postsecondary educational opportunities and are committed to advocating for the disability community at the local, state, and national levels.

The Development & Partnerships Manager is a full-time salaried position reporting to and collaborating closely with the Executive Director (ED). The Development & Partnerships Manager will develop, manage, and execute a comprehensive development plan, including individual giving, fundraising events, sponsorships, grant writing, and annual campaigns. A successful candidate will thrive in our small team dynamic and prioritize relationship-building to steward individual, foundation, and corporate donors.

Roles & Responsibilities:

Fundraising Events/Campaigns:

  • Develop and execute event sponsorship outreach and stewardship plans for major events. Steward existing sponsor relationships and develop new partnerships.
  • Manage silent and live auctions for our annual spring fundraiser, including soliciting in-kind donations, coordinating pick-up, and organizing packages. Auction solicitation supported by staff and board.
  • Monitor ticket sales and donations leading up to fundraising events. Create reports to track this data YOY.
  • Develop and execute a team captain stewardship plan and fundraising strategies to increase peer-to-peer fundraising for Buddy Walk. Includes meeting with team captains to build relationships.
  • Support event planning and day-of logistics as needed. Collaborate with the ED to stay up-to-date on event logistics to help execute events smoothly.
  • Develop and execute annual fundraising campaigns including the Austin Marathon, Amplify Austin, and Year-End Giving. Includes creating communication campaigns across email, social media, and direct mail.
  • Work with the ED to create a fundraising plan to differentiate target donors at different fundraising events.

 Development & Donor Stewardship:

  • Maintain and strengthen relationships with existing key donors and corporate sponsors.
  • Proactively develop and execute a plan to identify potential corporate sponsors and key donors and build, maintain, and foster relationships with these sponsors and donors. For corporate sponsors, this may include non-fundraising events such as volunteer opportunities or career days.  Invite them to annual events including Cocktail Bash, the World Down Syndrome Day Recital, and Buddy Walk.
  • Meet with at least one existing donor/sponsor and at least one potential donor/sponsor per month via Zoom, a phone call, or in person. Keep detailed tracking of touchpoints with new and existing donors/sponsors. Invite the ED and/or Board members to join in these meetings.
  • Collaborate with the ED to create a donor stewardship plan for donation tiers. Oversee facilitation of the stewardship plan with support from the administrative assistant.
  • Work with the administrative assistant to ensure each donation is entered into our CRM and is acknowledged promptly. Create a tracking system to monitor the process.
  • Lead and manage the Development Board Committee. Includes creating agendas, board communication, inviting committee members to donor/sponsor meetings, and overseeing tasks.
  • Develop and manage monthly donations and employee giving stewardship. Develop strategies to increase participation and donation amount.
  • Analyze donation data periodically to evaluate development campaigns and monitor organizational fundraising goals.
  • Report monthly to the Board on donor/sponsor and grant outreach/submission and results.


  • Develop and execute an annual strategic plan for grant submissions, and ensure that DSACT collects the necessary metrics to satisfy the requirements of key foundations. Identify and apply to at least 1 strategically selected grant per month. Create a grant calendar to track foundation submission deadlines and progress.
  • Foster relationships with grant funders and execute grant reporting requirements.

Media Partnerships:

  • Develop and maintain relationships with media contacts throughout central Texas.
  • Create and distribute press releases for various events throughout the year.
  • Coordinate which staff, board, and/or DSACT members will participate in each news segment.

Other Duties:

  • Work with the ED to create, send, and evaluate the annual community survey.
  • Work with the ED to create and distribute the annual report.
  • Create content for and manage the LinkedIn Account to further relationships with businesses.
  • Social media campaign planning and content creation related to development activities.
  • Seek out professional development opportunities to stay up to date on development best practices.
  • Embrace small team collaborative efforts and help out with extra projects as needed.

Qualifications & Demonstrated Skills:

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • At least 2-3 years of proven nonprofit development experience, including focused experience on event fundraising, grants, and donor outreach/stewardship
  • Demonstrated success in securing grants and maintaining relationships with donors and grant funders
  • Experience with peer-to-peer fundraising is a plus
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills across diverse audiences
  • Strong ability to manage multiple tasks, meet deadlines, and keep projects organized
  • Passionate about serving and advocating with individuals with Down syndrome
  • The ideal candidate would be open to sharing and trying new ideas, a team player, a self-starter, compassionate, relationship-focused, and personable.
