Dr. Katie Rose joined DSACT in 2019 when she welcomed a foster baby into her home with Down syndrome. In 2021 she had the privilege of adopting that foster baby and now has a 6 year old with Down syndrome. Katie also has a 16 year old brother with Down syndrome who is also involved in DSACT. Katie is an assistant professor of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences at UT Dell Medical School and a licensed psychologist specializing in working with children and families with high risk behavioral and emotional disorders. Katie is passionate about inclusion and making sure the world knows the value of people of all abilities and how our lives are richer because we know and love people with Down syndrome. In her free time Katie enjoys reading, playing mahjong, and spending time with friends and family.
